Print off the Task Checklist and choose a state to research.
Step two
Find out what the capital city of your state is and write that down on page 30 of your workbook or in your exercise book.

Find out the population of your state and your capital city.
Please don't forget that you will need to keep track of the websites and books that you use and present these in a bibliography. Please check the page 'How to write a bibliography' to ensure that you're recording the details correctly.

Step Four - Natural Features
Research the natural features of your state - these could be rivers, lakes, mountains, forests or oceans; anything that was formed naturally and that was not man-made.

Step Five - Tourist Attractions
Find out about 3 (three) tourist attractions in your state. This could be a museum, church, sports stadium, castle, historical site (for example where the Berlin Wall stood) or an important building.

Step Six - Food
Find out about at least 2 (two) types of food that people like to eat in your state. This could be a particular type of sausage, a specific dish (for example Jägerschnitzel is a pork schnitzel served with mushroom gravy and is particularly enjoyed in southern Germany); or an ingredient (for example potato).

Step Seven - Traditions
Find out about at least 1 (one) tradition that people in your state celebrate or follow. This could be a traditional celebration such as Easter, Christmas, Karneval or New Years, or it could be a festival (for example Oktoberfest in Bavaria) or particular costumes that they wear at a certain time of year (for example costumes worn during Karneval).

Step Eight - Distance From Berlin
Find out the distance from your capital city to the capital city of Germany, Berlin.
You can give this information in the form of kilometres, or in the time it would take (hours and minutes) to drive between them.

You can include the distance from Berlin wherever you like, however I would suggest you include it somewhere near the beginning of your speech, as you introduce your state.
